Meadowhall and Internet Haul

I may have gone a little crazy this week. After what feels like a massive draught I hit the shops and the internet like a crazy woman!

My first indulgence was a pair of calf high Dr Martens and I'm actually surprised at just how excited I got about this particular purchase. This may, in part, have something to do with the mini reunion at a friends house the week before, where I sat with a few people that I adore but have only seen a handful of times since I left school just over 10 years ago. (Guess life gets in the way!).

One of the things that came up in conversation (daft as it may sound) was Dr Marten shoes and how they were so 'cool' when we were at school and how they seem to be 'back in' at the moment. So, of course, when I spotted these in Schu I was compelled to buy them!

My second purchase was a cute 'Alice in wonderland' locket from the Disney couture
collection. (I'm still waiting for this as ASOS.com messed up my order!)

Then at the weekend I spotted this in Debenhams in Meadowhall and was absolutely hooked.

Palette £28

The packaging is so cute and the colours (most of them) seem very wearable. I might find I have a few problems with my sister with this as she has spotted it and that generally means it will be disappearing when my back is turned!

Think I may have to spend some time on You Tube looking for some inspiration and tips on how to use the more extravagant colours so they don't go to waste.

My last indulgence, last but not least, was some goodies from Hollister. I have to say that I was surprised when I came across this store in Meadowhall as I wasn't aware that this company had outlets in the UK.

They say sounds and smells can transport you back to a certain time or place and the minute I walked in to this store it was like being back in the Abercrombie and Fitch store on 5th Avenue in New York (good times).

Tshirt £20, Flip Flops £14

Space NK Beauty Event

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the Space NK beauty event on Wednesday evening and I have to say for the £10 price tag it was a whole lot of fun.

After being greeted with a wonderful glass of champagne we were pretty much allowed to run amok amongst the beauty counters. There was swatching and testing a plenty along with mini make overs and demonstrations.

When it came time to leave, we were given goody bags full of numerous different items for us to try. (see picture)

I have to admit that it wasn't all good as my project 10 pan didn't fair to well. (I may have caved in a little and brought some Eve Lom skincare products and also a By Terry Baume de Rose.... d'oh!).

To fringe or not to fringe!

Yes, you'll be pleased to know, I have finally reached that stage with my hair when I either get a fringe (or bangs as I believe they are know in th US) or I let it grow out.

Its such a painfull stage to be at and I think I might end up caving and getting it cut back in, the only problem is do i go for full on or side swept? ...any suggestions?

Kelly Clarkson at the O2 Academy, Birmingham

I saw Kelly Clarkson last night at the O2 Academy in Birmingham.... she was amazing!

After a rather stressfull journey to the show (we went to the wrong place...d'oh!!) It turned out to be one of the best concerts i've been to for a long time. I believe this is due to the rather small nature of the Academy venue. With it being so small it gave the impression that, had you reached out, you could have actually touched her! (obviously this was the reality but it certainly felt that way.)

New Hair Colour

After many weeks of putting it off my greys and roots have finally gotten the better of me and I have had to be brave and apply a colour.

This may not sound like much, but when you have had as many bad experiences as I have with hair colour, dying ones hair is always a traumatic experience!

I have, also, on this occasion broken one of my many hair 'no nos' and actually used a Clairol 'Nice & Easy' colour (even though it was with this brand that I previously experienced my worst hair colour disaster!)

They have completely redeemed themselves in my eyes with their 'Perfect 10' product!!

I have to say that I am extremely pleased with the results. The '6.5 Lightest Cool Brown' colour has toned down the red (much to my amazement with a home colour) as you can see in the before and after pictures below:

Its one from the new Opi Alice in Wonderland collection and its really cute so I thought I would share it with you!

January Favourites

Never done this before, so here goes.....

My first favourite product of January 2010 is my Chanel Inimitable mascara.

I should, maybe, point out at this stage that I have incredibly sensitive eyes and that this, to date, is the only mascara that I have ever come across that does not hurt my eyes!

The funny looking brush separates and defines my long, difficult, lashes for a dramatic effect that lasts all day.

My second favourite product this month is my Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Extreme perfume.

This floral scent is the ultimate in girly indulgence. (I should mention that whilst I love this particular perfume, I do not like the original Flowerbomb.... strange as they are supposed to be the same scent with one just being stronger than the other?!!)

The third product for this month is the YSL Touche Eclat. This product has been an absolute god send in a month when sleep appears to be a luxury that is beyond my reach!

My fourth product is Opi "parlez vous opi" which is a beautiful all year around colour that goes with everything and is very easy to wear.

My last product for this month is Frederick Fekkai's Colour Technician shampoo. This is the only shampoo that i own that is rich enough to use without a conditioner for those days when i don't want to weigh my exceptionally fine hair down.
